Hailing originally from Perth, Jet James has become a recognizable figure in the arts industry. His birth to an artist father and mother, who had close links to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Burdon and Michael Hutchence, seem like fitting beginnings for Jet's career in the spotlight.
Tragically, Jet lost both his parents in separate accidents at a very young age. The time that ensued led to periods of isolation in some of the most remote areas of Australia where he studied via the School of the Air. These times of solitude saw him throwing himself into his art and honing his skills through the mass of work he produced, while also allowing his own style to develop with the lack of outside influence. By the age of 16, Jet was left to complete his secondary schooling on his own. He worked and even managed to sell some paintings while putting himself through high school, even though at times he was, by definition, homeless. After completing year 12, Jet travelled to sunny Central Queensland and commenced study in Visual Art. He has won awards and exhibited regularly and sold work directly and internationally via online marketing.
Jet lives and breathes art in an almost literal sense and his work reflects his traditional beliefs as well as his modern thinking. These contrasts of thinking are seen in his work by his use a variety of mediums and application methods. His current, preferred domain is that of printmaking, which may be better suited to satisfy his preference for the avant-garde creative process.
